first_imgThe Hong Kong University of Science andTechnologyJob Title:    Faculty Positions inSustainability and Green FinanceDepartment:    Division ofEnvironment and SustainabilityJob ID:    6005Job Posting DetailsThe Division of Environment and Sustainability at The Hong KongUniversity of Science and Technology is seeking applicants forsubstantiation-track faculty positions at all ranks (AssistantProfessor/Associate Professor/Professor) whose scholarly interestscross multiple areas of sustainability, and sustainable and greenfinance.  The successful candidates will contribute to theUniversity’s sustainability and sustainable finance educationstrategy by contributing leadership and vision to a well-balancedand multi-disciplinary approach to understand key sustainabilityand sustainable finance concepts, principles, theories, andpractices.  To facilitate a multidisciplinary emphasis, thecandidates are expected to have or to generate an internationallyrecognized research program that stresses collaborative research onsolving some of the world’s “wicked” problems – i.e., climatechange mitigation and adaptation, social and economic inequality,environmental risk analysis, and sustainable and green finance.Candidates should have a strong understanding of experiential“hands-on” learning as a means of instruction for students, and anexemplary teaching record.  Appointees will be expected toparticipate in or lead collaborative teams and interdisciplinaryresearch on sustainability and sustainable finance.The Division of Environment and Sustainability is aninterdisciplinary academic unit dedicated to the use and managementof natural resources in an economically efficient, environmentallycompatible, and socially responsible manner.  Our facultymembers publish broadly in both disciplinary journals and diverse,environmentally focused outlets, and are rewarded for working oninterdisciplinary teams in applied contexts.  Depending on thecandidate’s areas of expertise, a joint appointment between theDivision of Environment and Sustainability and another relevantacademic Department/Division may be possible.Applicants should have a doctoral degree in science, engineering,finance, economics, or an interdisciplinary environmental ornatural resources-related program with a focus on theseareas.  Applicants should have proven teaching and advisingexperience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, a strongresearch and publication record consistent with the candidate’sacademic rank, evidence of potential for securing research funding,and demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary teamsinvolving both social and natural scientists.Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate withqualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include annualleave, medical and dental benefits.  Housing benefits willalso be provided where applicable.  Appointment at theProfessor rank will be on substantive basis.  Initialappointment for Assistant Professor/Associate Professor willnormally be made on a 3-year contract, renewable subject to mutualagreement.  A gratuity will be payable upon successfulcompletion of contract.Application ProcedureApplication materials including (i) full curriculum vitae; (ii)separate statements of research interests and teaching philosophy;(iii) a letter of interest summarizing your qualifications, areasof expertise and career goals; and (iv) contact information ofthree qualified referees should be sent in PDF format [email protected]  Review of applications will start inmid-April 2021 and continue until the positions are filled.(Information provided by applicants will be used for recruitmentand other employment-related purposes only.)last_img read more
