2013 NSWTA State Cup

first_img209 teams from across the New South Wales will converge on the Port Macquarie Regional Sports Stadium from Friday, 6 December until Sunday, 8 December 2013 to compete in the 2013 New South Wales Touch Association (NSWTA) State Cup. Teams will compete across 13 divisions, ranging from under 20’s through to over 55’s at the three day event. Approximately 5,000 players, officials and spectators will attend the event, making it one of the largest Touch Football events in the world.  Round games will commence on Friday morning, running throughout the weekend with the finals concluding the tournament on Sunday afternoon. The first Grand Finals will begin at 12.05pm, with the Mixed Open final at 3.00pm, Women’s Open at 3.35pm and the Men’s Open at 4.10pm. In the Men’s Open division, the Wollongong Devils will be hopeful of taking out back-to-back State Cup titles following their maiden victory in 2012, whilst the Penrith Panthers will be looking to take out the Vawdon Cup/State Cup double after their Vawdon Cup grand final win last month. The Eastern Suburbs Roosters will be looking to make it back-to-back State Cup titles in 2013. The Roosters won the 2012 Vawdon Cup/State Cup double, while they also won the recent 2013 Vawdon Cup grand final. 2013 Vawdon Cup runners-up, Manly Sea Eagles, will be hoping to continue on their impressive 2013 season to date by putting on a strong performance in Port Macquarie. In the Mixed Open division, the Eastern Suburbs Roosters and Murwillumbah Mavericks will again go in as favourites after their performances in recent years. The Roosters have dominated at a Vawdon Cup level in recent years, including winning the 2013 grand final, while the Mavericks will be vying for their third consecutive State Cup title this year.
