The school president and athletic director released a statement on the matter.“We are disappointed our game against Southern Miss has been selected as a daytime kickoff at home,” it read in part. “We realize we’ve played more non-conference day games at home in September than any other SEC team since 2014.”As many people have pointed out, Alabama often gets picked for those early slots because the Tide’s non-conference home games are usually cupcakes. You’re not going to put a 63-7 blowout on in prime time.Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt was pretty blunt about his feelings on Alabama’s complaints. He told the Crimson Tide to “pound sand.” hahahaha…Says the team that has played TWO non-conference road games since Nick Saban got to town….Pound Sand #Bama https://t.co/FeUFnsJOvq— Joel Klatt (@joelklatt) September 9, 2019Klatt won’t make many friends in Tuscaloosa with this take. However, as long as Alabama keeps scheduling markedly inferior non-conference opponents, fans can expect a lot of early kickoffs.Alabama-Southern Miss is scheduled for September 21. The Crimson Tide will be on the road this week, opening up SEC play at South Carolina.Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
