Hog Farmers To Receive Direct Income Support

first_imgNova Scotia hog farmers having financial difficulties will receive $400,000 in direct income support next week and will be able to access $100,000 for projects to boost future business. The Department of Agriculture will send direct payments to hog farmers facing financial troubles. “We will mail eligible Nova Scotia hog farmers a payment. There is no need to apply for the funding,” said Brooke Taylor, Minister of Agriculture. In March, the government announced a $500,000 Hog Transition Fund to assist hog producers. The funding was approved in the provincial budget. “We understand the difficulties pork farmers are experiencing and the Department of Agriculture continues to help through various programs and services, as well as debt retirement, strategic planning and direct income support,” said Mr. Taylor.
